قال ديدييه ديشامب، مدرب فرنسا إنه أدرك أن منتخب الديوك واجه بعض الصعوبات، لكن التشكيلة الأساسية التي تم تجديدها ستسمح لبعض بدائل الفريق بتذوق مباريات كأس العالم.

وتحدث ديشامب إلى “TF1” في أعقاب خسارة فرنسا في دور المجموعات أمام تونس بهدف دون رد.

ثم انتقل بعد ذلك إلى تحليل الأداء العام لفرنسا واحتمال مهاجمته في جولات خروج المغلوب.

قال ديشامب: “واجهتنا بعض الصعوبات من خلال الاختيارات التي قمت بها، يجب أن يساعدنا ذلك في أربعة أيام”.

وأضاف: “كان بعض اللاعبين معرضين للإصابة وقد لعبنا للتو مباراتين بقوة عالية، سمحت للبدلاء برؤية الفرق في الجودة في مباراة كأس العالم، لقد وصلنا إلى هدفنا، وسنتعافى، ونبدأ الآن منافسة ثانية”.

وعن هدف جريزمان الملغي، استطرد ديشامب: “لا أعرف، ربما هناك موقف تسلل، استغرق الأمر بعض الوقت، حد من فرحتنا بالتعادل لأننا استحقينا ذلك”.

على الرغم من الخسارة، أنهى المنتخب الفرنسي مشواره في دور المجموعات على القمة، ويستعد الآن لمواجهة صاحب المركز الثاني في المجموعة الثالثة يوم الأحد المقبل.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side faced their Glasgow arch-rivals at Parkhead in what was a make-or-break game for them in the title race.

In the end, Rangers didn’t do enough to get all three points, falling behind to Jota’s first-half opener and equalising through Fashion Sakala, who later wasted a glorious chance to snatch victory.

It was a game which saw some Gers players struggle at times and Arfield was one of them, posting a lowly 62% pass completion rate and losing five out of nine duels (55%), as per Sofascore.

The Latest: Campbell criticises Arfield

Taking to Twitter during the match, Campbell criticised the Canada international’s performance against Celtic, particularly in the first half. when the journalist tweeted:

“Rangers started brightly but they missed their chance through Kent and Celtic took an identical one.

“Since then Celtic been better and could have scored another as Rangers have gone flat.

“Sakala & Arfield struggling. Would like to see Lowry & Wright on at half time for them.”

The Verdict: Disappointing from Arfield

Rangers really needed the 33-year-old to produce a big performance at Parkhead, but in truth he was too often on the periphery of things.

Arfield didn’t last the full 90 minutes after an ineffective showing, being replaced late on by Amad Diallo, and with only three team-mates being rated lower by Sofascore, you can see why Campbell felt that the Canadian struggled today.

The ex-Burnley midfielder wasn’t disastrous by any means, but he may feel disappointed by his efforts overall on a day when Rangers very much needed to win to realistically keep the Premiership title race alive.

Speaking in his pre-game press conference ahead of the match, Eddie Howe has revealed that while Ryan Fraser has been out on the grass, he has not trained ahead of the clash with the title-chasing Reds.

Taking to Twitter, Newcastle World journalist Cronin has given his reaction to Howe’s comments, claiming that Fraser’s season could be over:

“Sounds like Ryan Fraser’s season could be over.”

The Verdict: Big blow

Howe’s comments certainly do not sound promising, and so if they were to lose Fraser for the rest of the campaign, it would be a big blow.

He has been a key part of their turnaround under the manager, as he has contributed two goals and two assists in the Premier League since February (Transfermarkt).

They are already missing a number of key players through injury, and the task is an uphill one anyway against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Nonetheless, the Magpies will now have to find a way to win games without him, as they look to secure a strong finish to the campaign.

That’s according to reliable journalist Pete O’Rourke, who delivered a fresh verdict surrounding Spurs’ interest in the Inter Milan centre-back to GIVEMESPORT this week.

“Bastoni could be a more realistic option for Tottenham right now,” he said.

“[Antonio] Conte and Fabio Paratici will know all about him from their time in Italy and he might be a more achievable target.

“That could be the one Spurs push for as they look to bring in a new centre-back in the summer.”

Perfect Conte reunion

It is no secret that the north Londoners are targeting a major central defensive addition this off-season.

The Athletic recently claimed that a left-sided option will be a priority, naming the likes of Bastoni, Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, Lille’s Sven Botman and Nico Schlotterbeck of Freiburg as potential signings.

Given Conte’s history and experience with the Italian, he could well be the best candidate and just as O’Rourke suggests, he is surely a viable and practical signing that Spurs could make.

Prior to the 52-year-old’s arrival at the San Siro, Bastoni was a young and unknown talent that had not featured for the first team. He is now a Serie A winner and valued in the region of £60m.

He started 33 of their 38 games on their way to Inter’s first Scudetto in 11 years and he continues to be an integral part under Conte’s successor, Simone Inzaghi.

Compared to Leonardo Bonucci and Alessandro Nesta, Bastoni offers sublime ball-playing abilities, ranking in the top five in the whole Italian top-flight by attempting 70.9 passes per 90. His ball retention is just as effective, grading at the 86th percentile out of 99 – perfect for Conte.

And whilst he’s not too effective in the air, he is very active and aggressive defensively, ranking in the 94th percentile for intensity.

It’s no wonder the 23-year-old gem has been lauded as a “Rolls-Royce” of a centre-back, as well as being “complete” and “dominant” – this is exactly the sort of profile that Conte adores, so you can only imagine him in a back-three involving Cristian Romero.

The fact that Bastoni is viewed as a realistic signing, despite his £60m valuation, is certainly fantastic news for the Italian head coach heading into the summer.

Everton are in an extremely vulnerable position right now in the Premier League as they battle relegation this season, but if Frank Lampard can keep them up there is the potential to add quality to improve the squad this summer by replacing some faces who haven’t been performing.

One of the biggest problems the Toffees have faced is a lack of goals, with the side conceding 20 more than they’ve scored, with only 32 goals so far, and if they were to stay up in the Premier League this is an area that will need desperately addressing.

Furthermore, both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have been touted with moves away from the club, with Calvert-Lewin strongly linked to joining Arsenal this summer and his Brazilian strike partner linked to a move to Manchester United.

Although losing both players would be disappointing for fans, it may actually be a blessing in disguise now that an approach has reportedly been made by Everton for Barcelona forward Memphis Depay.

Depay has scored ten times in 30 appearances at the club, but since his Achilles tendon injury has struggled to get game time for the La Liga giants featuring for less than 20 minutes per game over his last five appearances.

The 28-year-old who was hailed “one of the best” by Riqui Puig, had a much more prolific output at his former club Lyon, where he netted 76 times and contributed 55 assists in 178 appearances, with a goal involvement every 1.3 games, which is an attacking threat Everton desperately need to add to their team.

The report from the Spanish news outlet claims that the centre-forward’s future at Barcelona is looking doubtful and the club could put him onto the transfer market this summer, giving Everton the opportunity to swoop in and potentially cash in on their current attackers that are not delivering the output needed to maintain safety in the top-flight.

With that being said, Lampard has a huge task ahead of him to secure Premier League football next term and to even approach a player of Depay’s calibre at this point would seem a pointless venture with their chances of relegation growing. However, if he can keep the side up it is a potential transfer that the club should seriously consider.
