Gio van Bronckhorst has confirmed that he does not have any new blows to deal with and will have a full squad to select from outside of the long-term injuries.

Ianis Hagi, Alfredo Morelos and Filip Helander have all been ruled out for the rest of the season but the Gers have no minor concerns to worry about ahead of this Old Firm clash.

The head coach said: “No fresh injury doubts for tomorrow, we will prepare with our last training today and looking forward to the match.”

Supporters will be relieved

Rangers supporters will surely be left feeling relieved by this news as it means that they do have to worry about any other players missing this match against Celtic.

Morelos, Hagi and Helander were all already out for the 3-1 win over Braga on Thursday night and this means that there will be no, enforced, changes to the matchday squad from that match. The Gers secured their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League with a stunning win against the Portuguese side, with goals from James Tavernier (two) and Kemar Roofe sealing their passage through to the last four.

This fantastic win at Ibrox will breed confidence as it was a special night under the lights in Glasgow and a huge win in the context of the season. They are currently six points behind Celtic in the Premiership and this means that the cup competitions are now their best chance of winning silverware, which is why their progression in Europe has an added importance.

It is also why this Scottish Cup clash with the Hoops is also a big occasion for the Gers. They have a chance to oust their rivals out of the way on their route to lifting the trophy and fans will be keen to see them exact revenge after losing their last two Premiership matches against them.

Therefore, the supporters will be relieved that none of the players who impressed on Thursday night have picked up injuries ahead of this clash. They will be wanting to see a similar performance, and result, to the one they enjoyed against Braga and having the same squad available will be a big boost for van Bronckhorst given their displays in the week.

أصدر كيرستوفر نكونكو بيانًا رسميًا بعد استبعاده من منتخب فرنسا وغيابه عن مونديال قطر 2022 للإصابة.

وخلال تدريبات المنتخب الفرنسي تعرض نكونكو للإصابة إثر تدخل من زميله إدواردو كامافينجا.

وبناء على ذلك بعد الفحص الطبي تم استبعاد نكونكو وقام المدير الفني ديديه ديشامب باستدعاء راندال كولو مواني بديلاً له.

وكتب نكونكو عبر موقع “تويتر”: “بالأمس بعد الفحص الطبي، تم استبعادي من منتخب فرنسا وكأس العالم، حان الوقت الآن للعمل بهدف واحد فقط: لكي أعود أقوى”.

لكن نكونكو أراد أيضًا الدفاع عن زميله في الفريق إدواردو كامافينجا، الذي استُهدف بإهانات عنصرية لأنه تسبب في إصابته عند التلامس، كما قد يوحي مقطع فيديو من تدريب البلوز.

وفقًا لصحيفة “ليكيب” الفرنسية، لاعب ريال مدريد كامافينجا لم يمس مواطنه نكونكو، ولم يكن السبب في إصابته.

Despite having incredibly wealthy owners that showed during the recent January transfer window how capable they are when it comes to splashing the cash on bringing new players to the club, Newcastle United still have a couple of players in their squad that have made their way through the youth system.

One of those players, in particular, that has played a significant part in Newcastle’s current season is midfielder Sean Longstaff.

Having worked his way through the Tyneside club’s youth academy as well as having loan spells at clubs such as Kilmarnock and Blackpool, the 24-year-old has racked up a total of 134 appearances for Newcastle in their U18, U23 and senior sides across all competitions.

The Englishman, who has been described as a “fantastic talent” in the past by former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, has also chipped in with 14 goals and 14 assists in his time at the club.

Back in February 2017 when he was on loan at Kilmarnock, Transfermarkt had Longstaff’s market value listed at £68k, whereas it now stands at £11.7m, highlighting a significant rise based on his efforts on the pitch for the Magpies.

Last month, Newcastle reportedly turned down a transfer offer from fellow Premier League side Everton for Longstaff when former Toon boss Rafa Benitez was in charge, which goes to show how highly they value the midfield starlet.

So far this season, the midfielder’s performances in the 15 appearances he’s made for the Toon in the Premier League has earned him an overall rating of 6.5 according to WhoScored, higher than the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden.

This shows that while he is a capable midfield option for Newcastle, he still has some room for improvement if he wants to be a regular starter for Howe.

Moving forward, if the academy graduate, who is currently earning a weekly wage of £23k-per-week according to Salary Sport, can make the most out of any opportunities he gets to play from now until the end of the season, he could put himself firmly in the frame to be offered a new contract at the club when his current deal expires in the summer.

Reports in recent days and weeks have suggested that the Magpies are interested in the Ligue 1 star, but after a bid was made earlier this month, Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot was quick to insist it wasn’t going to happen and that the offer was not sufficient at all.

Alas, it now seems that all is not over in the Tyneside club’s pursuit of Ekitike, with journalist Ryan Taylor revealing late last night that Eddie Howe’s side are back in for the striker.

Writing on Twitter late on Sunday night, he said: “Hearing Newcastle are back at the table for Stade Reims striker Hugo Ekitike. Told new offer could be submitted tonight.”

Exciting transfer twist

After looking like it wasn’t going to happen just over a week ago, it appears Magpies fans could be set for an exciting transfer twist on deadline day.

The 19-year-old has been an impressive performer for Reims this season in Ligue 1, notching eight goals in just 18 top-flight games, along with setting up another three.

Indeed, writing on Twitter, journalist Graeme Bailey dubbed him an “outstanding talent”, adding that Ekitike would be a “huge signing for Newcastle if they get it done, many in France believe he could be the next Mbappe.”

With the Magpies having already sorted out the signing of Burnley striker Chris Wood earlier in this January transfer window, Howe already has a Premier League proven centre-forward to go alongside regular number nine Callum Wilson.

Ekitike’s arrival wouldn’t just give the Tyneside club an added option going forward, but also provide a bit of an X-factor given that he’s just burst onto the scene in France.

Newcastle fans will surely be buzzing at the prospect of seeing Ekitike sign on the dotted line just days after looking like a deal was dead in the water following their initial bid.
